Interview with Matthew Daddario

Last weekend during The Italian Institute Convention in Milan, Italy the ShumDario News team had the amazing opportunity to sit down and interview Matthew Daddario in person to talk to him about his experiences playing Alec Lightwood on Shadowhunters, as well as ask other questions about his career. This was really the pinnacle of what we have dedicated ourselves to here at SDN for one year and a half. Saying it was a thrill is most definitely an understatement. You could say one item has been checked off of our team’s bucket list and we hope you’ll enjoy reading these fascinating insights from Matthew as much as we enjoyed hearing them.

Review – Shadowhunters
episode 218 “Awake, Arise, or Be Forever Fallen”

What can we say about last Monday’s episode of Shadowhunters other than, holy shit! We were literally at the edge of our seats for this riveting, passionate, soul stirring, heartbreaking, utterly devastating emotional journey that lifted us to the highest highs then sent us crashing down to the lowest of lows. Not only did we experience these overwhelming feelings during the show’s 43 heart racing minutes, but it continued on into the days that followed. Leaving no doubt in our minds that Awake, Arise, or Be Forever Fallen, written by Jamie Gorenberg and directed by Amanda Row, will go down as our favorite episode to date, and quite possibly of the entire series! Our team has been rocked to the core by the events that unfolded between Magnus and Alec, so much so we’ve barely been able to function. Sitting here five days after the show has aired we’re still unable to fully process our thoughts and form coherent opinions about what we saw. This is surely a testament to just how amazing the episode was. To say that it was absolute perfection and everything we’ve ever wanted in life, still seems like a vast understatement. But we have to find a way to make it through this review somehow, so buckle up and we’ll start at the very beginning!

Are you ready for Shadowhunters‘ episode “A Dark Reflection“? It looks like angst is upon us so here is a little something to cheer us up!

Interview with Alberto Rosende (Simon Lewis)

Interview with Alberto Rosende (Simon Lewis)

Last weekend members of the ShumDario News team attended The Italian Institute convention in Milan, Italy, which featured several stars from Freeform’s hit sci-fi/fantasy series Shadowhunters. While at the convention our team had the privilege of sitting down to interview several members of the cast to ask them a few questions. In this first interview we spoke with Alberto Rosende about his character’s journey so far this season, and we were lucky enough to have Katherine McNamara join in for part of it as well. They were both an absolute pleasure to speak with and we loved hearing their insights about Simon and Clary.

episode 215 “A Problem of Memory”

Shadowhunters episode 2×15, “A Problem of Memory”, took a dark turn down the long and difficult road through Magnus Bane’s tragic past. Many fans were familiar with his backstory, but seeing it play out on screen added so much more depth and realism to his painfully emotional journey. We felt our own hearts break for him as the events from his childhood were brought to light. Written by Allison Rymer and directed by Peter DeLuise this episode contained so many great moments between Magnus and Alec as a couple, as well as their individual stories, it turned out to be one of our favorites so far this season.

Review – Shadowhunters
episode 214 “The Fair Folk”

Shadowhunters episode 14, The Fair Folk, aired last Monday night on Freeform, with a new sheriff in town! Our favorite Shadowhunter Alec Lightwood (Ok we admit we might be a little bit biased here), made his somewhat controversial debut as the new Head of the New York Institute. Bringing a whole slew of new leadership ideas to unite Shadowhunters and Downworlders in the aftermath of what was nearly a war. Boy he really shook things up! We loved seeing this stronger, tougher, more dominant Alec in action and we couldn’t have been more proud. Written by Taylor Mallory and directed by Chris Grismer, we are now nearly to the halfway point of season 2B, and the plot is definitely thickening.
